Drinking two or more cups of coffee daily can cause death in people with severe hypertension
Death as result of cardiovascular diseases in individuals with severe hypertension is on the rise, this is as a result of too much intake of coffee ( which contains caffeine).
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the whole world. They are a group of disorders of the heart and the blood vessels.
According to the World Health Organisation, a little over seventeen (17) million people died globally in 2019 alone as a result of these diseases.
Caffeine, a natural chemical in coffee which has stimulant-like effects on the body when consumed, serves as a source of power for cardiovascular diseases to get worst.
According to Wikipedia, "Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant of the methylxanthine class. It is mainly used recreationally as a cognitive enhancer, increasing alertness and attentional performance. "
According to a research published on the 21st of December, 2022 in the Journal of the American Heart Association which is a peer-reviewed journal, if you have a high blood pressure, two or more cups of coffee intake doubles your risk of death from cardiovascular diseases. That's for people with a blood pressure of 160/100 mm Hg and above.
"Tobacco use, unhealthy diet and obesity, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol" are some of the major causes of cardiovascular diseases according to the World Health Organisation.
