Symptoms 

Flu symptoms are the signs that indicate you have been infected by the influenza virus, which causes a respiratory illness. Flu symptoms can vary from person to person, but they usually include some or all of the following:

- Avoid smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke, as they can worsen your symptoms and increase your risk of complications.

- Wash your hands frequently and cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your elbow to prevent spreading the virus to others.


When to see a doctor 

Most people with flu symptoms can recover at home without any problems. However, some people may need to see a doctor or go to the emergency room if they develop signs of a serious complication, such as:


- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

- Chest pain or pressure

- Confusion or altered mental status

- Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea

- Dehydration or signs of shock, such as pale skin, cold sweat, rapid pulse, or low blood pressure

- High fever that does not go down with medication or lasts more than three days

- Worsening of chronic medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease
